I don’t support them now. If this is true, then it just makes them look even dumber to me. I’m with you, screw Wal Mart.

They are just trying to keep the cost of my tube socks low. I side with Walmart.

Wal mart is cheap. Sorry, but I still shop there.
I do feel bad for the woman, and pray she gets better. BUt like I said. Its pretty cheap, and I’m pretty stingy. lol.

It’s disgusting what they are doing to this family. But then they treat their employees just as badly. Why is anyone surprised?

Ayla on 19 July, 2009 at 2:20 am #

I’ve been boycotting walmart since I was 16. This just gives me one more reason not to shop there.

The way I understand it is that Walmart has paid for her care, but once she got money from insurance or a lawsuit or whereever, then she had to give the money back to Walmart. They haven’t taken anything from her, they just covered expenses until she had the money.

I may have the facts wrong, but if this is true, then I have no problem with what Walmart is doing.

Walmart wouldn’t be taking any money if she hadn’t won a lawsuit. It isn’t walmarts responsibility to pay out hundreds on thousands in medical expenses for her care, that what her insurance does. All Walmart is doing is saying ‘We’ll cover the cost for now, but if you go and win a bunch of money in a lawsuit, we want our money back.”
I think that is perfectly fair.

It was documented in the policy when she joined their health plan. Just because you don’t read the policy before you join doesn’t mean you don’t have to abide by it.

And for those that haven’t heard of the story, here’s a link:

lets be real walmart gets a bad wrap its cheap and they keep us that cant afford macy’s clothed so no matter what happend to one person we will keep shopping there. i worked there for 10 years they may not be the best employment but they are one of the largest community envolvment companys i have ever worked for. they give more money away to donations then anyone i have ever worked for so they not only help the poor they give to the poor as well. and as for the people who say they dont get paid well working there i have worked in retail all my life and everyone i know starts at minum wage no matter how much experiance you have yet walmart gives you increases if you have experiances. Yes i moved on but not cause i didnt like the company it was because i didnt like the store manager i worked for but i got vendicated cause he got fired 4 month after i left.

jonwalker27 on 27 July, 2009 at 11:47 pm #

They’ve put all the places out of business that used to compete with them where we live. They have the monopoly. So, we have little choice but to support them. Argh.

If I only had a dime for every corporation or law firm that cheated a widow, orphan or handicapped person.

You may want to investigate the entire case…
The money was repayment of hospital costs after a lawsuit was won, something that while seemingly inappropriate the way it was portrayed to the media, is right in their insurance program paperwork. All Walmart, and many other employees, sign similar clauses.
The ex-husband (who divorced his permenently disabled wife to make her eligible for more services from the state) is the one trying to keep it.

WalMart is doing good things. IF this case is true, there is good and bad in everyone. WalMart is now giving all of its employees health care coverage for $5 a month. That is fantastic. They also have $4 prescriptions for customers. They can’t be help to be perfect in an unperfect world.

schwildcat1977 on 8 August, 2009 at 6:17 am #

I don’t support their politics - but I don’t make very much money and have to shop were I can afford to get everything I need.

So yes - but only because its cheap.

Thanks for the info, though it doesn’t surprise me. Guess everyone out there betta read the fine print on their contracts no matta where they work.

Yeah, though, I’ll still do the whole W-M thing. An’ anyway– where would most regular people shop if not there?
