wal-mart
Yoshi asked:

Are the cd drives at Wal-Mart good quality?
I asked another question a minute ago and someone said to get a cd drive at Wal-Mart. Can you get them that are internal or external? Please help!
No, I’m not cheap, but a tech store is 3 hours away from where I live. If Wal-Mart is good quality, it would be nice. If not, then I will drive 3 hours and buy one.

Walmart is okay for brand name stuff at a good price. You should go there if it’s worth saving money.

walmart is a good place to go to because most of the people in the high-tech places can be rude and only want your money so they make you buy the most expensive and most cra ppy peice of equiptment. I bought my mp3 player, dvd player, and so much more there, you get a good price there and they arent trying to sell you a bad peice of equiptmet.

Brand is more important than WHERE. If you can get a good brand at a great price - why not??? It’s not like Walmart takes good cds and makes them not good so they can sell it for less! Research your brand. You may also want to consider ordering from an online place (they’ll deliver to you) - but it will be more expensive. Check Circuit City or Best Buy, or even Newegg.com

I wouldn’t buy one from Walmart. Order one from Newegg and let it come to you (if you are in the US that is), average shipping time with standard is about three days on the outside, I get items in one to two days from Newegg but I live practically next to the Warehouse (New Jersey to MD, not a long trip).

Newegg, better customer service, returns under almost any condition (within the return period). Walmart… angry people making minimum wage don’t really want to help you. It’s nothing personal against the people that work at Walmart, it has just been my experience, a word to the wise, Confucius say, “wise person does not buy electronics at Walmart” and I would NEVER EVER in one billion years buy computer parts at Walmart.

I’m telling you, just order one from Newegg. Because Newegg is just… better, better than Walmart, better than Best Buy, better than Circuit City. Unless you can’t shop online… which would really be a shame because Newegg is just so awesome. No I don’t work for them, I’m speaking from experience.

You get what you pay for so as long as you don’t go and buy the cheapest one they sell you should be fine. Most are internal and I’m not sure about the selection they have, you may end up with a DVD burner but it burns Cd’s just fine
