We might not think about them often, but seeds are a very big part of our lives, especially as food. There are several kinds of edible seeds. All the grains we eat for instance are actually seeds. The parts of wheat, oats, maize, barley, rye, rice, and all the other cereals that we eat are seeds, usually minus the husk. They are also the usual source of any edible oils a plant produces, and as such, are extremely important for cooking. Coconuts, maize, canola, and sesame are just some of the plants that have a type of seed that is suitable for processing into edible oil.
