NO. get your cartilage piercing with a needle. gun piercing is not recommended as it can damage/deform your cartilage.

personally, i think it depends on how the equipment is sterilised etc.
i pierced all of my cartilage piercings (about 4 of them) myself and there not infected they’re fine. its also how you clean it afterwards.

    if they use guns
    DO NOT PIERCE IT THERE
    not as hygienic

you should get it at the west covina.i alway get my cartilage pierced there.it only 16 dollor include everything you need.and also it give you extra medicine if your hurt.if you don’t like it than get a full refund. you know that when the do it and you don’t like it they keep your skin.they have the magic to put it back.

If you are going to get your cartilage pierced your best bet is to go to a a tattoo and piercing shop. They use a hollowed needle as apposed to a sharp stud. Think of it as punching a hole through a piece of paper with a hole puncher verses tearing a hole through a piece of paper with a pencil.

i honestly dont think walmart is the best place to get it done. you should probaly get it done in a tattoo or peircing parlor. a sterial place too. if you get it done at a non professional place the cartalidge could get infected and they would have to cut part of your ear off. hope this helps.

I didn’t even know Wal-Mart did piercings. Let me just say that although a cartilage piercing seems pretty mundane, you should be even more careful with it than a regular lobe piercing. I got my first cartilage piercing done at the mall, and it healed fine. However, it was pierced crookedly. Now I can only wear certain earrings with it. I have a hoop in, and when I got my second piercing below it, it wouldn’t heal properly. It stayed swollen because the first hole was irritating it. I ended up having a large bump around it. Recently, I had to puncture it with a needle because it was filled with fluid. Now I have a nice scar around the piercing, which doesn’t seem to be going away. Please go to a real studio and don’t get it done with a gun. I am never doing that again.

Horrible idea! The company that makes the piercing gun clearly states that they are not meant for cartilage piercings. The cheap dull metal has a very real possibly of shattering the cartilage. The post is also not long enough to accommodate for swelling. And the biggest factor: it’s not sterile. They use rubbing alcohol wipes, which doesn’t kill a lot of bacteria and viruses, including AIDS and hepatitis. Any and all piercings should be done with a needle by a qualified professional. I work in the ER, and if I got a dollar every time some little girl came in to get those posts surgically removed, I would be rich.

i got one piercing at claire’s but i was lucky that nothing bad happen. However, i would never suggest to anyone to go to claires knowing what i know about piercing guns. While piercing guns may seem to be a quick, easy and convenient way of creating holes, they have major drawbacks in terms of sterility, tissue damage and the length and design of gun studs is inappropriate for healing piercings. Reusable ear piercing guns can put clients in direct contact with the blood and body fluids of previous clients. Go to a certified piercing studio. It’s a great experience.
