I bet you can find a lot on Wal-Mart just by using Google. There are a lot of people with opinions about Wal-Mart.
I think Advertising Age has done stories on Wal-Mart.

I have a friend who is a long time employee of Wal-Mart. She’s one of the higher paid associates/department managers. They keep changing her schedule so that she will quit because they want to replace her with someone who will work for less money. Wal-Mart isn’t very loyal to their employees.

I really think it’s best if you do a google search on this one so you’ll get the facts or better than I could give them. I’ve commented about Wal-Mart before and just a bit tired of it.

They celebrate the fact that they underpay their employees?

If your passionate about not shopping at Wal-Mart I would imagine you already have some reasons why this is so. Start there. Is it; customer service? imported products? Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the world yet it’s employees are not unionized? better prices elsewhere? or quality of products?

There must be something. Start there with a thesis statement (Example; I don’t believe consumers should not shop at Wal-Mart because of reason X) , gather facts, and form a cogent argument based in those facts. Don’t be afraid to look at differing points of view. This is a great exercise and you will be able to apply of other aspects of life in which you express and need to defend an opinion.

Incidentally, I work at Wal-Mart. I wish you luck with your project and would like to know how it turns out. Remember not everyone is going to agree with you, but that’s okay. Learning from your experience is the important thing.
