wal-mart
jasmiarg asked:

Or Wal-Marts in general? I realize they are sold at pet stores but Wal-Mart is the only local option and I can’t order online.
Kribensis: I am not cycling a tank. I am moving a fish across the country and tending to his water each night, but the ammonia levels are too high and need to be dropped. As a result I don’t have much flexibility for water changes because I don’t have a full tank of water to deal with.

there is no need to buy chemicals to remove ammonia
chemicals not needed will do more harm then good :-(
you’re the one, which will be removing it
by doing regular water changes of 25% weekly with a gravel siphon

if your tank is still cycling, you will need to do more often water changes but also smaller ones
here is info on cycling a tank

    Edit*
    ok, it was an assumption

however, i would still stay away from any chemicals
IMO, i would get just a water conditioner and a small pump which you plug in over night, when you’re on a reststop somewhere

if you do a waterchange every time you stop, you won’t really have to worry about ammonia

Your ammonia isn’t going to spike that much to worry about adding additional chemicals to the water. This is going to lower the O2 rate in the tank while traveling. When you stop for the evening, simply change water. Or carry a gallon or two of water. (Been there done that)

Yes they sell ammonia lock at wal mart. You at this point may be better off with the bagged kind and not the chemical.
